I don’t know what’s in the water cooler these NFL GMs are drinking from, but pass it this way.
Moments after the whopper of a trade went down between the 49ers and Dolphins, the Eagles find themselves in on the action:
Trade: #Eagles have traded picks No. 6 and No. 156 overall to the Dolphins in exchange for No. 12 overall, No. 123 overall, and a 2022 first-round pick. pic.twitter.com/Nzy949CsX4

Alright, so after acquiring the No. 12 pick in a deal from the 49ers, the Dolphins have already flipped that pick to the Eagles. Or to put it differently, the Dolphins have gone from No. 3, to No. 12, to No. 6 in the 2021 NFL Draft in the matter of minutes. And they acquired a boat-load of picks behind that, too. WHAT CHAOS!
Meanwhile, the Eagles move out of the No. 6 spot and gain a fourth-round pick and a 2022 first-round pick, all while still hanging in the top-15 range. Not bad, not bad. But what does this all mean?
Why are the Dolphins moving back into the top-10 after moving out? What skill-position player(s) do they have in mind now that they’re on the fringes of the top-5? And what are the Eagles doing? Collecting future draft capital is never a bad thing? But I thought they were possibly in a spot to draft a QB to challenge Jalen Hurts. Maybe they believe this can still happen with pick No. 12?
Here’s what the top of the draft looks like:
Updated 2021 NFL Draft order: picks 1-12:
1. Jaguars
2. Jets
3. 49ers
4. Falcons
5. Bengals
6. Dolphins
7. Lions
8. Panthers
9. Broncos
10. Cowboys
11. Giants
12. Eagles— Field Yates (@FieldYates) March 26, 2021
All things considered, the big takeaway for me might be that this NFL Draft could see a whole bunch of moving and shaking over the next month. So don’t get too comfortable with those mock drafts just yet.
