It was only a matter of time until the post-NFL Draft free agent signings began trickling in.
And while the Bears haven’t done much heavy lifting, some former Chicago football players are landing in some new places:

And with that, both of the Bears’ Week 1 starting offensive tackles from last season have new homes.
Hours after Charles Leno Jr. signed with Washington’s football team, Bobby Massie — Leno’s fellow former ex-Bears tackle bookend — found a new home for himself. And fittingly enough, Massie, like Leno before him, will find some new faces when he lands in his new town.
Massie is signing with the Denver Broncos, reports NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. There, Massie will be reunited with Vic Fangio and Kyle Fuller (among others).
The Bears let go of the 31-year-old tackle earlier in the offseason, paving the way for change in the offensive line. Massie, who missed 14 games over the last two seasons due to injuries, was cut to create an estimated $5.4 million in cap space. Although, if designated as one of two possible post-June 1 cuts, the Bears could clear $8 million in cap space for 2021. Just some food for thought.
Chicago could replace Massie in a number of different ways. Even with projected replacement Teven Jenkins moving to the left side, the Bears have options at the right tackle position. Germain Ifedi, who will make $4.25 million in 2021, is the most likely starter. But let’s not discount Alex Bars or rookie Larry Borom as a possibility.
There is so much that needs to play out along the line between now and Week 1. Thankfully, we have 123 days until Week 1 kicks off.
