Your Friday Fields: He is Ready to Make Teams Regret Passing On Him in the Draft

I know it’s not just me who gets a chuckle out of every time someone uses the Michael Jordan “And then I took it personal” meme.

But you know who won’t be chuckling when Justin Fields applies that mentality to real life situations? All of the general managers who passed on Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft.??In an NFL Network produced video highlighting the journeys of Fields and other rookies into the league, the Bears’ quarterback-of-the-future passed along the following message:

“I’m the best quarterback in this draft. If a quarterback is drafted over me, they just have to live with that decision. And I hope I get to play that team.”

If that doesn’t get you to a place to run through a wall for QB1, I’m not sure anything will.

Don’t get it twisted. I love the glitz and glamour throws and runs Justin Fields has put on tape.

But on top of all the highlights, there is this vibe he puts off when it comes to working hard at his craft that is so alluring:

I try not to get caught up in workout videos. Admittedly, it’s easy to do that. But it’s the workout vids that provide perspective. Having talent and athleticism is half the battle. However, Bears fans are all too familiar with what it looks like when talent and skill aren’t in sync with the work ethic that takes everything to another level.

We’re two weeks away from training camp opening. And while Chicago’s decision-makers have made it clear that Fields won’t start in Week 1, I’m looking forward to seeing how he can make everyone sweat it out.
