Packers fans enjoying schadenfreude at the expense of Bears fans for their team’s handling of the Allen Robinson situation are probably looking like that Homer Simpson backing into the bushes meme.
You just hate to see it*:
The #Packers and Davante Adams’ reps worked behind the scenes to get a deal done. The proposals have not acknowledged Adams as the highest paid WR, sources say. Green Bay’s classic structure has led to limited options. Now, talks are off with just a few days to go before camp. https://t.co/8m0WM7TTBX

The Packers and star receiver Davante Adams have broken off contract talks, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Just when you thought Green Bay had its hands full with Aaron Rodgers, some unexpected drama turns its head. And to make it more delicious, Adams’ long-term future with the team has been looking hazy for the chunk of this past offseason. Adams said he would have to do “some serious thinking” about sticking around if Rodgers leaves. Waiting in the wings for that to happen is Derek Carr, Adams’ college quarterback who is waiting for the Raiders to pounce on the situation if it happens. And, sure, it’ll be a while before we get to that point. But in the meantime, this situation is worth monitoring. Hope you have your popcorn ready
Adams, 28, is entering the final season of a four-year extension he signed late in 2017. He has made good on the first three years of that deal, earning three Pro Bowl bids and a first-team All-Pro nod. But Adams wants to be rewarded handsomely for his efforts. And unless something drastic happens, it looks like the Packers won’t be obliging at this point.
