Lost in the shuffle of quarterback debuts over the weekend was Jordan Love getting it in with the Packers.
A first-round pick in 2020, Aaron Rodgers’ heir apparent went 12/17 for 122 yards, 1 TD, and a 110.4 passer rating. Not bad. Love is no Justin Fields. But then again, who is?
Unfortunately, for Love, the date for his encore performance isn’t set:
The Packers will have just two QBs at practice today: Aaron Rodgers and Kurt Benkert.
Matt LaFleur said Jordan Love is "feeling a lot better, but we're going to be smart."

#Packers QB Jordan Love, who had a clean MRI on his shoulder this weekend, is not expected to practice today, source said. Tomorrow is a walk-through, so a few days off for the GB backup.

Love suffered a shoulder injury during the Packers’ 26-7 loss to the Texans on Saturday. Green Bay seemingly held Love out of the second half out of an abundance of caution, making sure trainers gave him a long look. Ultimately, it sounds like Love will be OK. Getting a clean MRI is a good start, but Love will probably miss some more practice time this week.
Even knowing that things will be “OK” now that the dust is settling, we should still keep an eye on this situation. Firstly, shoulder injuries are a scare for anyone — but especially QBs. Secondly, as the Bears’ biggest rival, we should always have a pulse of what is happening at their most important position. Thirdly, this was lining up to be an important preseason for Love’s development. Getting an extended look at Love appears to be on the docket. Providing him with ample practice snaps, and giving him plenty of opportunities to put tape out there is something the Packers should be hoping to do to gauge the future of their quarterback position. So, even a minor setback could be problematic because those opportunities won’t be there as often so long as Aaron Rodgers is suiting up in Green Bay.
In the end, it feels like there’s always something happening with one of these quarterbacks. What do you have for us, Kurt Benkert? If that is your real name…
