Tim Tebow was one of the best and most entertaining college football players I’ve ever seen. And even though his quarterbacking career never took that important next step at the professional level, I can still admire his gumption as he is taking to a position switch in the second act of his career.
But to this point, it’s not looking all that great:

Honestly, the Tebow block that went viral wasn't even his worst block of the night. This was *the very next play* pic.twitter.com/tINWyJpWSE

This is what it looks like when you go viral for the wrong reasons.
Don’t get me wrong. I love that Tebow is trying his hand at a new position. It is the kind of story you want to root for from a purely football perspective. And there is nothing like an old dog learns new tricks tale to spice up training camp. But this ain’t it. Those blocking attempts were flat-out whack. And if they don’t get any better, Tebow could end up hurting himself or an unknowing teammate who gets blown up by a defender with a clean shot.
I once thought Tebow going to a rebuilding situation with a coach who is familiar with him would be a net positive. However, that small sample of plays are giving me second thoughts. The Jaguars are in a good place with Trevor Lawrence at QB, and should be building from that moving forward. Unfortunately, for Jaguars fans who happen to be Tebow supporters, moving forward with a Tebow project that still clearly needs a lot of work for too much longer could be detrimental for further positive developments.
