News of Justin Fields dealing with a sore groin wasn’t what Bears fans wanted to wake up to on Wednesday morning. But nearly 24 hours later, the news out of Halas Hall has a sunnier disposition.
Things appear to be trending in the right direction:
Bears rookie QB Justin Fields (groin) will practice today. It’s a light day. The plan is for him to still play vs. the Bills.

Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy told reporters quarterback Justin Fields will practice on Thursday. The team was playing things conservatively on Wednesday while Fields was dealing with soreness. For what it’s worth, Fields did suit up and even did some light throwing yesterday. So it’s not as if he was totally unavailable. But Fields is in a place where he can give it more of a go in practice. That is a step in the right direction.
If all goes well today, Nagy says he expects to play Fields on Saturday against the Bills. Thus, setting up a much-anticipated exhibition showdown against Mitchell Trubisky. Well, at least after Andy Dalton gets a few quarters worth of work in with the rest of the Bears’ regulars.
