It began as rumors earlier today, but it appears now to be confirmed: Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a car crash on Tuesday morning, which left Ruggs with non-life-threatening injuries, but also reportedly killed one person.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirms that Ruggs III was driving and will be charged with DUI resulting in death. Statements from the LVMPD below:

There has been no statement from the Raiders, but the NFL released a statement through a spokesman:
NFL spokesman on Henry Ruggs:
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim of this horrific tragedy. We will continue to gather facts and monitor the matter under our policies, but our thoughts at this time are with those impacted by this devastating incident.”

Ruggs was a Raiders first-round pick in 2020 and has 24 catches, 469 yards, and two touchdowns this season. But further discussion of his football stats at this point feels wrong. Because ultimately, this is serious stuff.
Per Nevada law, a DUI resulting in death is a class B felony. If convicted, penalties include:
– 2 to 20 years in prison
– Fines ranging from $2,000-$5,000
– A three-year driver's license suspension— Tashan Reed (@tashanreed) November 2, 2021
Not to be preachy, but drinking and driving is an awful decision. Moreover, we can use this moment to serve up a reminder not to drive impaired. And in the end, I hope Ruggs can get the help he needs moving forward. My thoughts, prayers, and well wishes are with the family and friends of those involved. This is heavy stuff.
