After parting ways with Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy on Monday, the Chicago Bears and their search team led by Bill Polian have wasted no time sending out interview requests for potential general manager and head coach candidates this week. If you haven’t been feverishly tracking and documenting the happenings as Luis has here at BN Bears, you’ve probably missed someone or someones. That’s why we’ve put together this list of potential candidates thus far for you today.
Before we get into who the Bears have requested to interview so far, it’s important to note that these requests are mandatory first steps in setting up interviews with potential candidates and are more or less informal Zoom meetings where the search team can gain some base-level familiarity with each candidate and potentially narrow their final list down a bit considering the wide-ranging net that they’ve cast in the first 72 hours of this search.
It’s also important to note; there’s absolutely nothing wrong with casting a wide net at this point in the search. It’s a welcomed change from the past coaching and front office searches with this organization. After botching this process so many times before, it’s better to leave no stone unturned this time, right? All right, let’s get down to it.
