Just one day after a report out of Michigan had head coach Jim Harbaugh expected to head to Minnesota and take the Vikings head coaching job – there were rumors that he’d even told his coaching staff they were free to explore other opportunities! – it all crumbles. No Harbaugh for the Vikings.
I’m sure there’s a heckuva story behind the story on this one:
Jim Harbaugh told Warde Manuel that this would not be a re-occurring issue and he would stay at Michigan as long as it wants him, per sources. https://t.co/d3NVS4EdLl

I think we have to assume that, while Harbaugh thought he was going to get the job, and some higher-ups in Minnesota thought it, too, ownership must’ve put the kibosh on it. We know that Harbaugh was rumored to be seeking a Jon-Gruden-like deal with the Bears, so if he sought the same with the Vikings – $100 million and total control? – maybe that was too much for ownership.
More on this is going to trickle out soon, I expect. In the meantime, this means the Vikings do not get Harbaugh, and are still looking for a new head coach. I’m good with that.
UPDATE: Sounds like it’s gonna be Kevin O’Connell:
