In case youโre unaware of the situation, today is NFL schedule release day.
And while the regular season skate is obviously important, the Bears still have three preseason games on their schedule. Because Chicagoโs football team plays nine home games this year, theyโll have just one home preseason game.
Itโs a doozy:
รขโฌยข Saturday August 13 vs. the Chiefs, noon (FOX)
Thatโs right, Bears fans. Their first preseason game will be against the Chiefs. Assuming nothing drastic happens between now and August, Matt Nagy will be at Soldier Field. Against the Bears. And Justin Fields. I canโt front โฆ Iโm digging that the NFLโs preseason schedule makers have a sense of humor.
Nagy coached the Bears to a winning record and two playoff appearances in four seasons in Chicago. But things soured at the end. And between the flubbing of the Mitchell Trubisky-Nick Foles situation, the Andy Dalton-Justin Fields quarterbacking conundrum, and an overall failure of his offense, there were ample reasons to sour on the Nagy era. Ultimately, it led to his firing last January. But in three months, Nagy will be back. In Chicago. Coaching against his former employer. Iโll be getting my popcorn ready.
As for the Bearsโ other preseason contests:
Thursday Aug. 18 at Seahawks, 7 pm (ESPN)
Saturday Aug. 27 at Browns, 6 pm (FOX)
Football is coming. Giddy up!
