The NFL’s top 100 players list isn’t perfect.
And no one has ever said it is.
But what the NFL Network rollout of the player-voted top players list does is tell us which players have the most respect among their peers.
For Chicago Bears star pass-rusher Robert Quinn, a spot in the top-50 speaks volumes for what his peers think about him:
It had been a while since Quinn made the list. But of course he was going to make it after a record-setting season with last year’s Bears. In case you napped through last season, Quinn set a single-season franchise record with 18.5 sacks.
If you’ve got some time on your hands, you can re-live the magic by watching all of them here.
Sacks alone aren’t what landed Quinn in the top-50. He also came through with 22 quarterback hits, 17 tackles-for-loss, and 4 forced fumbles. It was a magical season for Quinn, whose production in his first year with the Bears was virtually non-existent. But the bounce-back campaign in 2021 put Quinn back on the radar of many. And ultimately, it landed him his third appearance on the NFL’s top-100 players list.
And to think, there was a time this offseason when I thought Quinn might not be a member of the Bears. With new GM Ryan Poles going forth with a teardown and rebuild, there were rumors of teams kicking the tires on a Quinn deal. But nothing came of it. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Draft picks and prospects are cool, but have you ever watched a stud pass-rusher craftily make his way to takedown the quarterback? What Quinn does is nothing short of art. Enjoy it while you can.
