When Monday Night Football returns to the air next week, we’ll be greeted by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman behind the mic.
In the meantime, we’ve got No. 4 Clemson and Georgia Tech holding down the time slot on ESPN tonight and holding us over with some Monday night football that isn’t Monday Night Football.
Despite projections forecasting doom, the Chicago Bears will make an appearance on MNF this season. And when they do, fans wanting an alternative from Buck and Aikman will get a treat. Because unlike last year when the popular Monday Night Football alternate broadcast ducked the Bears’ appearances on MNF, the brothers Manning will do no such thing in 2022. That’s because Peyton and Eli Manning, as well as the merry gang of guests will provide a broadcast option to replace Buck and Aikman for the Bears’ Week 7 Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots. So, circle Oct. 24 on your calendars. Put a reminder in your phone. And set your DVR if you so choose for ESPN2.
As for the rest of the MNF ManningCast schedule, here you go:
Some people are traditionalists. And they’ll watch NFL broadcasts the way they always have. I get it. But if you’re a fan who wants to venture into something new, then perhaps the ManningCast is for you.
Peyton and Eli take a fun, light-hearted, and not-overly-serious approach to broadcasting football. All while looping in special guests throughout the game. Every now and again, they’ll dive deeper into a play or a coaching decision. And that’s cool, too. Sometimes, they’ll even provide background and personal anecdotes that give a different set of context and perspective. That’s when the broadcast is the best. It is certainly a different way to watch football. And while it isn’t for everyone, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something new. Frankly, that might be my preferred broadcast for that night — if only because I’d love to hear the Mannings dive into anything and everything Justin Fields.
