If Justin Fields is ready, then I am ready.
The time has come to turn over a new leaf:
Fields’ praise of first-year play-caller Luke Getsy in the video above is a reminder that the new offensive coordinator is as important to the Bears’ future success as the quarterback is moving forward.
We realize Fields was far from perfect last year. The second-year quarterback is still a work in progress. A toolsy work in progress. One who appears ready to lead. But nevertheless, still a work in progress. Getsy was brought in to help get the best out of Fields. He has refined mechanics and is coming off a preseason finale that was as good as it gets.
But now, it is time to take everything that was learned in the offseason and put it to use in a regular season game. We won’t be putting a final grade on Fields after one game. But instead, we consider this the first of many tests. This is where the fun begins.
