The only smudge on Friday’s Chicago Bears injury report was Velus Jones’ Jr.’s continued absence.
As for what is going on with the team on the other side of the ledger, there’s a whole bunch of question-marks on Friday’s Green Bay Packers injury report:
Packers reporter Matt Schneidman lists four Packers starters as questionable to play against the Bears on Sunday Night Football. Among them are some big, beefy guys on the offensive line. Left tackle David Bakhtiari and right tackle Elgton Jenkins are questionable due to their respective knee injuries. Elsewhere on the line, left guard Jon Runyan Jr. has the questionable designation as he makes his way back from a concussion. In other words, those are some significant questionables on the injury report.
Figuring out which of these questionable questionables will actually play might as well be a coin flip. I might venture to guess Jenkins has the best shot of playing, as he was a full go during Friday’s practice. Joining Jenkins at practice was Runyan, albeit in a limited capacity. Bakhtiari has a shot to make his 2022 debut after practicing with limitations on Wednesday and Friday. Although, missing Thursday’s practice could be a sign he isn’t ready to give it a full go.
The fourth starter landing as a questionable is receiver Allen Lazard, who has been practicing with limitations throughout the week. However, this clip suggests Lazard, Green Bay’s top returning receiver from last year’s team, is close to practicing in full:
We’ll see if there are any other shakeups between now and Sunday’s kickoff. Keep in mind that a 7:20 p.m. CT start gives teams just a bit more time to evaluate their injured players. Meaning that we should keep tabs on that 90 minutes before kickoff window when inactive come out. We’ll be watching with great interest.
