I’m watching Saints-Buccaneers this afternoon on a second screen with the Cubs, and my eye definitely got pulled to the football game when I saw the very rare NFL brawl break out.
You had former Bucs head coach and current staffer Bruce Arians jawing with Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore on the sidelines …
Which evolved into jawing between Lattimore and Tom Brady and Leonard Fournette, with some pushing and shoving, and then Mike Evans came flying in to deck Lattimore. And the rumble was on:
I like how Brady, 45, was standing up for his teammates, but was smart enough not to get into the thick of it. Those are some valuable hips that he can’t afford to risk in a rumble.
The whole thing took minutes for the officials to unspool, and it was kind of amazing that there weren’t more punches thrown or ejections laid. Lattimore and Evans both got the boot. The two have had considerable battles in the past, so I’m sure there was a whole lot already going on under the surface between the two.
