Dick Butkus’ Twitter takeover isn’t something I was expecting to write about today, but it was everything I’d ever want it to be.
Butkus, the legendary Chicago Bears linebacker known more for big hits than viral tweets (although, he’s got that down, too), made the most of the time in which he had after snatching the keys to the Bears’ Twittermobile. And it had everything you’d want from the Butkus experience.
There was storytime:
Nothing like a legendary re-telling of his favorite game.
Awkward-angle selfies:
Mishaps with camera work:
One pic with a friend:
Hopefully, Butkus imparted his wisdom on everything a Bears defense should be after finding Head Coach Matt Eberflus.
And, of course, a picture worthy of Facebook profile pic status:
And for good measure, there was a cameo on “TickTock”:
Look, if Butkus wants to call it “TickTock” and not “TikTok” then I’m going to call it “TickTock” too. If you want to fight him over correct spelling, then by all means.
Even though the offense remains a mess, a 2-1 start has me feeling better than I would’ve otherwise expected entering Week 4 of the NFL season. And a surprise guest appearance from Butkus can only help bring on more positive vibes. We can all use ’em.
