Thursday’s injury report featuring positive news regarding David Montgomery’s progress while recovering from knee and ankle injuries was followed up by another bit of positive vibes.
Montgomery was limited again in practice. And after stringing together a handful of DNPs, back-to-back limited practices should be taken as a good sign. As should Montgomery’s “questionable” designation for game day. We’ll see if Montgomery takes the trip with the team. If he does, I wouldn’t bet against him playing on Sunday against the Vikings. Although, it might be smart to ease him back into the situation.
As for the rest of the injury report, here it is:
It isn’t much, but it’s not nothing:
Jaylon Johnson was upgraded from not practicing to doing so in a limited capacity. Friday represents Johnson’s first practice reps since suffering the quad injury during practice leading up to the Bears’ Week 3 win against the Texans. And while I would caution against rushing Johnson back from injury, it would be nice to have a healthy CB1 monitoring Justin Jefferson. But Johnson is doubtful to play, so I don’t think it is realistic we’ll see him.
Also upgraded to limited practice participant was defensive back Dane Cruikshank, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury. Linebacker Matt Adams, who was dealing with a hamstring issue of his own, has put together consecutive full practices. He’ll be a full-go for Sunday. Same for tight end Ryan Griffin, whose back-to-back full participation practices has him ready to go, too. Griffin has been dealing with an Achilles issue.
Cornerback Jaylon Jones (illness), defensive tackle Justin Jones (hip), and linebacker Sterling Weatherford (illness) were also full participation players at practice. No designation next to their names on the injury report means they’re ready to play.
