The NFL is international again.
After COVID concerns put the league’s overseas trips on hiatus the last two years, the NFL is back across the pond. And what once looked as a “gimme” win for Green Bay turned out to be anything but.
I love having schadenfreude as part of my Sunday brunch. And the delivery comes courtesy of the New York Giants’ 27-20 win against the Green Bay Packers:
Yep, that’s right. The Packers traveled all the way across the ocean just to lose to a Giants team that needed a muffed punt and several stalled red zone trips just to beat the Bears. Go figure. You really can’t predict football!
On the one hand, watching the Packers’ demise is fun. Seeing the bane of my existence in MLB (the Cardinals) eliminated from the playoffs and their NFL counterparts (the Packers) lose after coming in as a 10-point favorite as late as this morning is good for the soul. But seeing that Brian Daboll — who interviewed with the Bears for their head coach opening last January — deliver with a win against the Packers in his first try puts some things in perspective. But we can discuss that later.
We’re onto the Bears game that is kicking off right now.
