Eddie Jackson Would Embrace Returning to an Old Role This Week

One of the things that made Eddie Jackson such and alluring college prospect was his positional versatility.

And when the Bears chose Jackson with a fourth round pick in 2017, I was dreaming of unleashing his playmaking skills as a punt returner. But Jackson proved to be so good and valuable at safety, John Fox refused to deploy him in that way.

Perhaps Matt Eberflus and Special Teams Coordinator Richard Hightower will think differently:

And I can see why:

Part of me wonders if the Bears would truly entertain putting one of their best defensive players on special teams. But part of me thinks there is nothing to lose with this roll of the dice. So … why not?
