Another bad break for Lucas Patrick, as the Bears will have to move the veteran offensive lineman to the IR as he deals with a toe injury suffered in Monday night’s victory over the Patriots.
On Wednesday, Brad Biggs reported that Patrick would move to injured reserve this afternoon, and the Bears will promote Dieter Eiselen from the practice squad to take his place. And on Thursday, there was even more fallout:
In addition to sliding Patrick onto IR, the Bears made corresponding roster moves of signing defensive lineman Gerri Green to the practice squad. The Green signing comes one day after the Bears traded Robert Quinn to the Eagles. In other words, yeah, the Bears probably need some down-the-depth-chart reinforcements at the position. To create room on the practice squad, the team released receiver Reggie Roberson (who wasn’t long for his trip on the squad).
Patrick played the first six games of the season at guard but got his first start at center on Monday night after Matt Eberflus shook up the offensive line during the mini-bye, moving Patrick to center, benching Sam Mustipher, and sliding Michael Schofield into the left guard position.
Patrick played just 10 snaps before suffering a toe injury in the second quarter. After being examined in the medical tent, he was carted off to the locker room.
