The most recent installment of the Bears’ webseries 1920 Football Drive gave us an unprecedented behind the scenes look at what goes into a front office scouting trip.
In case you missed it, Bears GM Ryan Poles and Assistant GM Ian Cunningham went on a three city trip spanning 48 hours in which they had eyes on six of college football’s most talented teams during the Oct. 22 weekend. OK, so neither Poles nor Cunningham offered up specific players from Alabama, Mississippi State, Syracuse, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Virginia who they had eyes on. However, Poles casually mentioned some specifics. For instance, Poles said they were looking at 45 prospects — including an estimated 15-20 who project to be in the top half of the draft. Naturally, this led me to ask myself who these two could’ve been wanting a deeper look at in the scouting process.
Consider these to be educated guesses based on what Poles said in the video and what the Bears’ needs are moving forward:
I’m sure there are dozens of players that aren’t on my radar just yet who the Bears have on their own list. But the collection of talent above features a bunch of possible Bears fits. I imagine the list will grow from here, especially with more trips on the horizon. However, these 15 names feel like a good place to start.
