When the Bears signed Equanimeous St. Brown as a free agent, I found myself looking forward to the pending head-to-head matchup with the Lions, who drafted his brother Amon-Ra in 2021.
As is often the case with brothers, there is a little bit of side action going on as these two are set to square off for the first time in 2022. But this sibling rivalry has a cash reward going to the winner, as there is a little more than pride on the line in today’s game:
Wow! The St. Brown brothers have a $1,000 wager on which team will take home the most wins this season. As things stand right now, Equanimeous and the Bears have a slight edge at the moment with the Bears having more wins (3) than the Lions (2). But a one-game lead is a perilous one. And it is quite possible that the head-to-head matchups could ultimately determine who gets the upper hand at season’s end. This means today’s game is a big one for both brothers. No pressure, guys.
For what it’s worth, history seems to be on Equanimeous’ side at the moment. The Lions haven’t finished ahead of the Bears in the standings since 2017. And since 2018, the Bears have had at least three more wins than the Loins in the end-of-season standings. With the best rushing attack in football and a better quarterback operating the offense, Equanimeous should feel confident going into this one. Just make sure to handle all passes heading your way and I think the Bears will be in good shape.
