UPDATE (7:41 p.m. CT) โ The ankle injury Darnell Mooney suffered during the Bears’ loss against the Jets appears to be a serious one. NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero have details, with Pelissero reporting that Mooney will get more tests on Monday while RapSheet chimes in adding the wideout likely needs season-ending surgery:
Our original post is as follows below…
Darnell Mooney hadnโt broken into the box score as a receiver, but did chip in as a blocker on a 14-yard run by David Montgomery early in the third quarter.
Unfortunately, that might be the last we see of Mooney for a while. Mooney went down with what looked to be a leg injury, then was shown limping off the field by the FOX broadcast. This is just not good and I hate that itโs happening at all:
Brutal. First, it was safety Eddie Jackson leaving with a foot injury. And now it is Mooney being helped off by trainers and not putting any weight on his leg as he leaves. What an awful turn of events for a Bears team that was already banged up on so many fronts.
Weโll update when we can.
