Updating up top so you don’t waste your time on what was ultimately a gross publicity stunt. Drew Brees was not only not struck by lightning, it was all a stunt. And a pretty bad one, at that.
There’s a video floating around the web this morning of Drew Brees apparently being struck by lightning while filming a PointsBet USA commercial. But between the visuals and framing from PointsBet, I find myself questioning the reality of this news. Of course, most of all, I find myself in the default position of “Jeez, I hope everything is OK.”

When I first saw this come across the timeline, I wasn’t sure if it was real or not. If it is a stunt, it’s in incredibly poor taste. But if it isn’t, then the wording from PointsBet (via PFT) is a bit of a head-scratcher. Because this feels light in terms of a message regarding a high-profile ex-player who was struck by lightning while filming a commercial for your brand:
