Drew Brees Might’ve Been *Struck By Lightning* While Doing a PointsBet Ad (UPDATE: It Was Fake)

Chicago Bears

Updating up top so you don’t waste your time on what was ultimately a gross publicity stunt. Drew Brees was not only not struck by lightning, it was all a stunt. And a pretty bad one, at that.

There’s a video floating around the web this morning of Drew Brees apparently being struck by lightning while filming a PointsBet USA commercial. But between the visuals and framing from PointsBet, I find myself questioning the reality of this news. Of course, most of all, I find myself in the default position of “Jeez, I hope everything is OK.”

Because this feels light in terms of a message regarding a high-profile ex-player who was struck by lightning while filming a commercial for your brand:

Well, at least it seems as if Brees is OK:

We’ll update this post when we know more. How insane.

UPDATE: Drew Brees is good and was not struck by lightning.
