When the Bears signed Nathan Peterman in the offseason, I felt it was fair to ask him by the team would do such a thing.
It turns out, the reason was to sign him to the active roster in early December after stashing him on the practice squad all year. OK … so they might not be precisely why they did it, but that is how it is going down:
Peterman joins the active roster after the team put Trevor Siemian on IR on Friday. Siemian is having season-ending surgery to repair an oblique injury he suffered while warming up before last Sunday’s loss to the Jets. Kudos to Siemian toughing it out. But now, the Bears turn to Peterman and Tim Boyle to backup Justin Fields.
Here’s hoping there is no reason we see Peterman (or Boyle) sling it for the Bears this week or at any point in the near future. It’s all about a healthy Fields closing the year on a high note from here on out.
