I’m glad the Bears got ahead of it today with Head Coach Matt Eberflus telling reporters at Halas Hall that Justin Fields wasn’t practicing Wednesday due to an illness. And I suppose I could give out bonus points due to Eberflus’ optimism that Fields will be available to quarterback on Sunday.
But the rest of the injury report is out. And, unfortunately, Fields isn’t the only one on it:
Three Bears joined Fields in not participating in Wednesday’s first practice ahead of Sunday’s upcoming game against the Eagles. The most notable non participants are receiver Chase Claypool (knee) and on-again, off-again starting right tackle Larry Borom (knee). Claypool looked to suffer a knee injury against the Packers on a play in which he lost a fumble, but he returned to play later in the game. Perhaps the day off was a maintenance thing. At least, that’s the best we could probably hope for when it comes to that injury.
Beyond that, there are four Bears who were full participants in coming back from their respective injuries. Among them were defensive backs Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker, who are coming out of concussion protocol. Seeing “FULL” next to the rookies was a welcome sight.
We’ll continue to keep up with the injury report. Hopefully, we don’t have to add any more names to the list tomorrow.
