There I was minding my own business and chewing on some trail mix because I’ve not been eating meals since I’ve come home from Cali when I saw this cross the Twitter timeline.
Justin Fields isn’t practicing? Gulp:
But then I saw the follow-up tweet from Chris Emma:
Whew!
What a relief it was to see that second tweet come through. The last thing any of us were wanting to see coming off the bye was a loaded injury report. Time off was supposed to be for rest, relaxation, and a re-charging of the batteries. Coming back to see that Fields wasn’t participating in the first practice after the bye was momentarily paralyzing. But all is well that ends well. Or in this case, all is well that ends with Fields being day-to-day because that designation is better than the alternative. Fields will be around the building and preparing for game week with his teammates (h/t Brad Biggs) despite not practicing due to illness. In the end, the Bears anticipate Fields to be healthy enough to play on Sunday. And reading that brings relief to my world.
We’ll be awaiting the rest of the injury report later in the afternoon.
