One of my favorite things that comes from learning about Bears rookies is when I learn about their secret talents.
And once a year, the NFL gives us a peek at which NFL rookies have artistry in their bag when they are asked to draw their new team’s logos from memory.
Keep your eyes open and see if you can spot Chicago Bears rookies Tyler Scott and Roschon Johnson:
There were a bunch of laugh-out-loud moments during that 2-minute, 15-second clip. Some of them come from rookies of rival NFC North teams. Seeing new Packers QB Sean Clifford’s attempt at drawing the big “G” logo has me in stitches. And Panthers quarterback Bryce Young’s attempt at drawing Carolina’s logo was inspiring. Head Coach Frank Reich is definitely going to put that one on the refrigerator. But you’ve gotta give credit where it is due. Roschon pretty much nailed the Bears logo. But maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. After all, Johnson’s scouting report projects him as a multifaceted contributor at the NFL level. It’s just that I didn’t expect “artist” to be part of his résumé.
As for Tyler Scott, an effort was made. And we give out “A’s” for effort around here this time of year. Hopefully, we’ll see the marriage of effort and execution when Scott and the rest of the Bears rookies take the field for their debuts this season.
