Montez Sweat has been in Chicago for a handful of days and is already closing in on an extension from the Bears.
So says NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter:

New #Bears edge Montez Sweat has agreed to a massive 4-year extension, worth $98,000,000 in new money (24.5m apy). Getting $72,865,360 guaranteed. Deal done by @KlutchSports Damarius Bilbo & Kelton Crenshaw. Total deal is $105m. pic.twitter.com/Gt20vqKqrc— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 4, 2023
This is a moment to celebrate. The Bears are on the verge of inking a long-term extension for the player they swung a trade with on Tuesday ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline. That breeze you felt is likely a sigh of relief coming from Halas Hall. Because after trading a second-round pick that figures to be a top-10 pick in the round, getting this extension with Sweat done was a necessary evil. And it helps the Bears get better for the long haul. Awesome.
We’ll have more on this shortly.
