Rome Odunze is already gaining cult status on the Chicago sports landscape.
How else do you explain the Bears rookie wide receiver getting his own hot dog at Soldier Field?
In case you missed the announcement earlier in the offseason, the Chicago Bears have a new concessions provider with Levy Restaurants taking over. Earlier this week, the folks at WGN shared pictures of new food and beverage options that will be available at Soldier Field starting in Week 1 when the Bears play host to the Tennessee Titans. Among the newest items is The Odunze Dog.
So … what’s on The Odunze Dog? A whole bunch of awesomeness:
- Firstly, it’s a jalapeño cheddar hot dog — which sounds like it’s right in my wheelhouse
- It includes Italian beef on the dog (because that’s just so Chicago!)
- Giardiniera (I just had giardiniera on pizza and it is an absolute game-changer)
- Spicy secret sauce (spicy and secret? ok, you have my attention)
- Cheese crumbles (I guess you need something to balance out all that spicy stuff)
Rome Odunze Special Dog headlines new concessions at Soldier Field
Anyone who’s watched football for any amount of time knows the Chicago Bears have been the times when it comes to quarterback play. And offense in general. But only Bears fans who have attended games at Soldier Field know how far behind the times the team has been in terms of concessions in the home stadium.

Soldier Field has been lacking in the food and drink department for years. So while I know that isn’t a top priority (because the on-the-field football stuff should obviously come first) for the franchise, it has been a double-dip of a bummer knowing that there hasn’t been quality eats to help chase the pain of another agonizing game. Hence, I’m not overlooking the Bears’ new look at the concession stands.
