Steve McMichael is worthy of all the praise he gets for his career as a Pro Football Hall of Fame legend on the gridiron, his prowess as a professional wrestler, and his excellence in the other successful avenues of his public life.
So … who better than to pay tribute to Mongo than Ric Flair?
This was a thing of beauty and I’m glad the Bears shared it on their social media channels:

No one cut a promo better than Ric Flair when he was at the peak of his powers as a pro wrestling icon while in WWE or WCW. And few people knew Steve McMichael like Flair. After all, both were members of the infamous Four Horsemen stable. It was only right that Ric Flair was the man to pay homage to The Man.
It has been quite a year for Steve McMichael, whose family accepted his Hall of Fame ring on his behalf during a halftime ceremony at Soldier Field on Sunday. There have been ups and downs as Mongo has battled through his health issues. But the ups have been a wonderful reminder of how impactful he was on the field. Re-visiting so much Mongo stuff over the last year has led me to find a new level of appreciation for one of the all-time great Chicago Bears.
In the end, I’m glad his family, friends, former teammates, fans, and well-wishers were able to celebrate his Hall of Fame career while McMichael was still on this plane of existence. It’s the little things that add up and mean a lot. And I’d bet this means a lot to a great number of people.
The legend of Steve McMichael
Over on their YouTube channel, the Bears have shared this Steve “Mongo” McMichael video. It’s so good that I had to re-share it here. Please enjoy.
