Oh, dear. The Chicago Bears injury report is lengthy as the team begins its preparations for a Week 3 showdown against the Indianapolis Colts.
On Wednesday’s release of the injury report, four players did not practice at all, and six others were participating with limitations. Yikes. Let’s check in with the latest.
- Wide receiver Keenan Allen (heel) headlines the list of non-participants during Wednesday’s session. As Patrick pointed out in his post earlier, Allen missed some time last year with a heel issue. I hope the Bears didn’t trade for damaged goods.
- Fellow wide receiver Rome Odunze (knee) remains limited. Who is quarterback Caleb Williams even throwing to at practice?
- Left guard Teven Jenkins missed practice with a thigh injury. Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus told reporters (h/t Dan Wiederer) that Matt Pryor would practice in Jenkins’ place on Wednesday, but feels that the starter will be ready to play on Sunday.
- If you are looking for rookie Kiran Amegadjie to step into the lineup, don’t hold your breath. The third-round pick from Yale remains limited in practice with a quad injury.
- Also limited in Wednesday’s practice was right guard Nate Davis. Depending on how these players recover from injuries, Coach Flus might have no choice but to shake things up along the offensive line.
- Three Bears defensive linemen were limited on the injury report: DeMarcus Walker (foot), Montez Sweat (elbow), and Andrew Billings (groin). Second-string defensive tackle Zacch Pickens (groin) didn’t practice at all.
- Fullback Khari Blasingame (hand/knee)remains off the practice field.
Writing up this injury report gave me a headache. I’ll rest up and hope it is better tomorrow.
