Leadership takes different forms in different people.
For instance, Chicago Bears tight end Marcedes Lewis showed that his veteran know-how isn’t limited to leading by example as an old-head. NFL on FOX insider Jay Glazer relays (after a discussion with the 40-year-old tight end) details of a meeting this week between Bears players and their offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. This is juicy:

“I talked to Marcedes Lewis last night, and Marcedes said he, Cole Kmet, and their quarterback Caleb Williams all went and had a private meeting – it’s not private anymore – and said ‘Hey coach, we’re not a Pop Warner team. You’ve got to coach us up. Coach me up even though I’m in Year 19. Coach up Caleb even though he’s a rookie. You’ve got to get more aggressive in coaching us together.’ And he does think there is going to be a difference.”
Bears players push for more from OC Shane Waldron
I love it when players go to coaches and ask to be coached harder. Not only because of the message it sends to the coach so they can step up their game, but also because I’ve always found that the players who want to be coached hard also turn out to be the best. The ability to take criticism and turn it into inspiration for improvement isn’t something everyone asks. When you want better for yourself, it is easy to ask those who want better from you to give you that extra push. Team work makes the dream work.
For the Bears, they hope that this team meeting will result in some more points on the board this week against the Los Angeles Rams.
