While the Chicago Bears are settled into their London digs, their opponent โ the Jacksonville Jaguars โ plays the waiting game.
I was piecing together this morning’s set of BN Bears Bullets when I saw this cross my timeline:
Who could’ve forecasted something like this?
Jaguars flight plans add new hurdle to pre-game preparations
The Jaguars’ flight to London for their Week 6 game against the Bears is being delayed due to Hurricane Milton.
Associated Press reporter Ken Maguire writes that Jacksonville canceled a press conference that was scheduled for Friday in London and moved it to Saturday morning โ just one day before the Jaguars and Bears play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. If the Jags can leave on Thursday night, they’ll land in London on Friday afternoon. This isn’t the Jacksonville team’s first rodeo when it comes to flying across the pond. After all, this is trip No. 12 overseas for the Jaguars’ franchise. They are 6-5 in those games and 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the Jags will serve as the designated road team.
But still … leaving about 40 or so hours between landing time and kickoff seems like a less-than-ideal plan.
While Jacksonville awaits liftoff, Chicago’s football team has made itself comfortable in London after leaving the city on Monday. Perhaps leaving early will be to the Bears’ advantage. Maybe leaving late will hurt the Jaguars. Everyone’s body adjusts to things differently, so who’s to say what works and what doesn’t for these players? But it sure seems like the Bears could have a leg up because of some questionable planning by Jacksonville’s brain trust. I guess we’ll find out on Sunday.
