I’ve been racking up recipes lately as I prepare for the fall and winter. But I either need to modify those recipes to cook for just one or host a party so I can feed others.
- Here is an update on Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, whose status for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears is up in the air according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport:
#Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, dealing with a rib injury, has his status up in the air for the showdown against Caleb Williams and the #Bears. pic.twitter.com/eJMLcFzbel— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 22, 2024
“My understanding is his status for this Sunday’s big-time showdown with the Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams โ a game so attractive that it was actually flexed to the 4 p.m. spot โ that is now very much in doubt. It is not a major injury. This is not something that’s going to keep him out for multiple games. But from my understanding, this is something to monitor and something to watch. It’s something that really depends on how he responds to treatment.”
- For what it’s worth, Commanders Head Coach Dan Quinn called Daniels “week-to-week” and shared a hopeful sentiment that his quarterback would play against the Bears this week. I’m still not sure if Quinn is playing the gamesmanship game. But it shouldn’t matter. Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus should prioritize creating the best game plan regardless of who is quarterbacking the opposition. Full stop. Sure, Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota are very different quarterbacks. But if the Bears stay true to their principles, it doesn’t matter who is calling shots in the other huddle.
- Jayden Daniels would’ve provided a different challenge for Chicago’s defense. But this unit has held its own against C.J. Stroud (held under 300 passing yards, only 1 TD pass), Anthony Richardson (0 TD, 2 INT, 167 pass yards, and just 24 rush yards on 8 carries), Matthew Stafford (0 TDs, 1 INT, just 224 pass yards), and Trevor Lawrence (2 pass TD, but threw 1 INT and was limited to 234 pass yards).
- I’ve read a lot of Caleb Williams content through the first seven weeks of the regular season. But I have not read anything like this from Da Bears Blog’s Jeff Hughes.
- Another fun read: The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain writes about Scott Wilseck, who has been at every Bears home game dating back to the 1962 regular-season finale. His streak, which sits at 467 games, extended when the team went to London in Week 6. What a fascinating tale. (The Athletic)
- Bears tight end Cole Kmet wants more primetime action:
- Don’t get me wrong. I love a noon CT start time. It incentivizes an early wake-up call, but also ends early enough for me to sort through my feelings after a game. But that 3:25 p.m. CT start time might be my favorite. We can get up early and do breakfast without rushing through it. Brunch is an option, too. Or we could sleep in and be better rested for the afternoon start. It all depends on your mood and vibe.
- Sheesh! I did not have *ANOTHER* Jameson Williams suspension on my 2024 NFL BINGO card. ESPN’s Eric Woodyard reports Williams is facing a two-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on Performance Enhancing Substances. The No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Williams has had some big-time highlight plays for the Detroit Lions. But he missed 11 games as a rookie due to an ACL injury suffered while at Alabama, four games in his second year for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, and now he’ll sit two for a PES suspension.
- I don’t like saying nice things about the Minnesota Vikings, but this is cool as heck:
