I don’t know how many highlight clips the Chicago Bears will provide us on this NFL Sunday. But if you’re looking for a feel-good story, then allow me to direct you to what Ricky Pearsall just did for the San Francisco 49ers.
Pearsall, a 49ers first-round pick from last April’s NFL Draft, just scored his first career touchdown:
This is quite a significant accomplishment for Rickey Pearsall. As NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero points out, Pearsall’s touchdown comes 71 days after being shot through the chest in a robbery attempt before the start of the season. Surviving such an incident is mind-blowing. To come back and still play professional football is inspiring. And to get your first touchdown? Oh, man. That makes for a whale of a story.
While I typed out this post, the Chicago Bears offense did nothing. So it’s not like I missed out on anything. We’ll keep you updated with that game (and other cool stories throughout the day) as things progress.
