The Jaquan Brisker situation is becoming concerning after Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus ruled the safety out for this week’s matchup with the Green Bay Packers at his press conference this morning.
“They’re still working through the concussion protocol and working through with the trainers. We’ll see where that goes in terms of week to week,” Eberflus said of Brisker’s status this morning.
This was the first time Eberflus spoke with the media since Shane Waldron’s firing, so no follow-up questions were asked about Brisker’s status. Brisker suffered this concussion in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers (October 6) and has been sidelined for over a month.
Brisker being unable to clear concussion protocol means the 25-year-old safety is still having symptoms of the injury, even nearly 40 days after sustaining it. What those symptoms are, we don’t know, but brain injuries are nothing to take lightly, especially with a player who has a history of concussions.
This is Brisker’s third diagnosed concussion in the past three seasons. Brisker missed two games after suffering a concussion against the Atlanta Falcons during his rookie season in 2022 and missed two games last season after sustaining a concussion against the Las Vegas Raiders. In all, Brisker has missed nine games (counting the Green Bay game that he’s already been ruled out for) in three seasons as a result of three separate concussions.
