If you’re like me, you’ve watched Caleb Williams’ drop-in-a-bucket throw along the sidelines to D’Andre Swift on Sunday about 100 times already.
Not only have I watched that, but I’ve watched his highlights from Sunday quite a few times as well.
The throw down the sidelines was unreal, but it turns out it wasn’t actually the first time Caleb had pulled that one off! Thanks to @bearssznn on X, we got a reminder that Williams hit an eerily similar throw while at USC last year in Week 1 against the Nevada Wolfpack.
Caleb Williams Continues To Impress
It’s still just so cool to me to see a Bears quarterback not only being able to pull off throws like that but also putting together full games like the one we saw on Sunday. It hasn’t always been pretty this season, but the flashes of arm talent are unlike any we’ve seen in a Bears uniform outside of Jay Cutler. And the fact that he is looking this poised, skilled, and comfortable as a rookie makes me even more excited.
This will go down as a bad season for the team as a whole thanks to some bad coaching decisions. But Caleb Williams (and much of the rest of the roster) has created such a high ceiling for the Bears if they can just get the head coach hired right this offseason. Until then, let’s just have fun watching the wow moments, I’m sure there will be a few more the rest of the way.
