Caleb Williams played pretty well on the field despite the team’s Week 13 against the Lions. But it is what he did off the field over the weekend that led him to get some recognition from the NFLPA.
Thanks to the Thanksgiving showdown in Detroit, the Bears players were given the weekend off which allowed Chicago’s quarterback to fly out to Los Angeles where he was being honored with a number retirement at USC during their game against Notre Dame. Bears tight end Cole Kmet actually made the trip out there with his quarterback but was wearing his Notre Dame colors.

Williams didn’t just take his family and teammate to his number retirement ceremony, however. The USC Heisman Trophy winner used his experience to give some Los Angeles area children the experience of a lifetime. Caleb Williams partnered with the local Boys & Girls Club and treated some kids to a VIP treatment for one of college football’s biggest rivalries. Williams covered tickets, food, swag, and transportation for the children involved who also got to join the team in running out of the tunnel and taking the field.
Caleb Williams Honored By NFLPA
For his good deed, Caleb was honored by the NFLPA as their Week 14 Community MVP. As a reward, the NFLPA will donate $10,000 to a charity of Williams’ choice.
It’s always nice to see players do good deeds in the community, especially when those good deeds help benefit kids. Caleb Williams has been a treat to watch on the field, but off the field, he’s been a great example of a good person, teammate, and member of the community. Guys like that are so easy to root for, and I’m glad Chicago’s quarterback is getting some recognition for the cool experience he provided those children.
Congrats, Caleb!
