What do you mean I don’t get Taylor Swift’s birthday off as a holiday?
- Seeing the Niners-Rams box score from Thursday Night Football has me wondering how bad things might be for the Bears after seeing San Francisco’s offense lay an egg. It also has me wondering how the heck the Bears beat the Rams this season.
- The Rams are 2-0 on Thursdays this season, but 0-1 agains tthe Bears. It really makes you think, doesn’t it?
- A realization I had last night: Matt Eberflus won 14 games in three seasons as the Chicago Bears’ head coach. Not great by any stretch. But among those three victories were triumphs against Bill Belichick, Sean McVay, and Kyle Shanahan. That’s two Super Bowl-winning coaches and one who has been painfully close to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy TWICE. Those “let me tell you the story of how grandpa beat Bill Belichick on Monday Night Football” stories from Flus are gonna hit different for his grandkids.
- The De’Vondre Campbell situation is bizarre. Flat-out quitting on a team is mostly unheard of these days. All things considered, it is surprsing this didn’t happen to the Bears first. (Pro Football Talk)
- This is what the 49ers head coach had to say about what happened:
- If Kyle Shanahan has lost the locker room in San Francisco, then I’d highly recommend finding one in Chicago. It might suit him better moving forward.
- The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain explores how Caleb Williams’ situation as the Chicago Bears’ rookie quarterback stacks up against his peers.
BN ON BLUESKY: Bears … Cubs … Bulls … Blackhawks
- Chris Emma (670 The Score) analyzes the Bears’ rushing problems (of which there are plenty). Save for a strong stretch of the season betweens Weeks 4-8, D’Andre Swift has been disappointing. Injuries have popped up to slow him down in recent weeks. But still … Chicago’s football team probably has to go back to the well to figure out its running game. Its answers should start in the trenches, then move outward.
- On the other side of the ball, Bears safety Jonahan Owens says not to blame new defensive play caller Eric Washington for the team’s defensive shortcomings. “I wouldn’t say it was anything with the new play caller,” Owens said via Bears Wire. There are some moves the Bears can make in the offseason to spice things up on the defense, but that doesn’t help matters now.
- Ome thing I am looking forward to from a new Bears head coach is seeing them bring in a new defensive coordinator to put some fresh eyes on old problems. Oftentimes, that makes for a quality first step toward getting things back on track.
- Let’s help out Bears defensive tackle Andrew Billings:
- The Bears don’t play until Monday night, which leaves us Sunday to do whatever we please. Should we choose to spend our entire day watching football, it is wroth pointing out that the CBS games airing locally in Chicago are Chiefs at Browns (noon) and Bills at Lions (3 p.m.-ish). The FOX games are Cowboys at Panthers (noon) and Steelers at Eagles (3 p.m.-ish). Sunday’s slate looks legit. Happy watching!

- While national baseball reporter Ken Rosenthal continues to light up the Chicago Cubs (and rightfully so!) this offseason, the team is reportedly “circling on” a specific deal for Houston Astros slugger Kyle Tucker.
- This is encouraging news: It sounds like rookie Matas Buzelis has won over his head coach, Billy Donovan. (BN Bulls)
