The day began with the Chicago Blackhawks promoting stud prospect Frank Nazar. Later, the Chicago Cubs swung a huge trade today to acquire star outfielder Kyle Tucker. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears are trotting out an injury report that makes me sad to share. At least the season is almost over.
Friday’s Chicago Bears injury report:
- Running backs D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson were non-participants for the second consecutive day. Swift is dealing with a groin injury, while Johnson is in concussion protocol. We saw Swift play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 despite being limited in practice throughout the week leading up to the game. Swift looked ineffective during his time on the field. Maybe the Bears are better off keeping him on the bench and letting his injuries heal.
- Defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. remained out of action on Friday because of a knee injury. In case you missed it, the Bears signed a defensive tackle off the Green Bay Packers practice squad earlier in the week. I am not looking forward to seeing how Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones performs against a Chicago defensive line missing both of its top starting tackles.
- Offensive lineman Ryan Bates is still in concussion protocol. Bates was limited in two walk-through practices before the Bears-Lions game in Week 13 … but has since been downgraded to being a DNP. That isn’t normal. What gives?
- Safety Elijah Hicks (ankle) was limited for a second consecutive practice. Hicks has been off the field since suffering an injury in the loss against the Green Bay Packers.
- Let’s wrap this up with our traditional mentioning of tight end Marcedes Lewis getting the DNP veteran’s rest day status.
Chicago Bears Week 15 Injury Report (Thursday’s Version)
This is the second of this week’s injury report updates. Save for the upgrade of Josh Blackwell from not practicing at all on Thursday to doing so with limitations on Friday, not much has changed. We’ll keep tabs on tomorrow’s update and share it whenever it drops.
