The Chicago Bears are in action this week but won’t be part of our Sunday lineup, with their Week 15 tilt set for Monday Night Football. So, here’s a quick list of suggestions for your football viewing pleasure this weekend. If you’re a YouTube TV/NFL Sunday Ticket subscriber, you can even watch some of these simultaneously in multi-view.
Week 15 Games to Watch (with the Bears on MNF)
Houston Texans (8-5) vs. Miami Dolphins (6-7) — Noon CT – CBS (Sunday Ticket)
The Houston Texans are looking to clinch the AFC South title with a victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, while the Dolphins hope to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Texans can clinch the AFC South with a victory over the Dolphins and a Colts loss to the Denver Broncos.
Bonus for Bears fans: Bobby Slowik is a name to watch as the Bears search for their new head coach. Many have cooled off their appetite for Slowik since last season, but you can watch him in action on Sunday and form an opinion. This one would be a Sunday Ticket special, though, as it’s not in the Chicagoland viewing area.
Cleveland Browns (3-10) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (12-1) — Noon CT – CBS (Local)
The games don’t excite me much, but it is the Chicagoland viewing option on CBS in the early window, so if you’re not a Sunday Ticket subscriber, it’s this or the Cowboys and Panthers. I prefer to watch the Chiefs and Jameis Winston play backyard ball over the latter option.
Detroit Lions (12-1) vs. Buffalo Bills (10-3) — 3:25 PM CT – CBS (Local)
The Buffalo Bills will head to Detroit to take on the Lions in a potential Super Bowl preview on Sunday in the late-game time slot. Folks in the Chicagoland area won’t even need Sunday Ticket to watch this one, it’s the regional broadcast in the CBS late time slot.
The Detroit Lions are on cruise control and look like the undisputed favorite in the NFC. Detroit reached the NFC title game last season and seems likely to return this season. The Bills are coming off of a thriller in Los Angeles last week where they and the Rams combined for 86 points, and Josh Allen scored six touchdowns (three through the air and three on the ground).
Kansas City stands in the way of the Bills’ hopes of reaching the Super Bowl, but if I’m being honest, the Lions and Bills is the Super Bowl matchup I want to see most. We get a taste of that matchup this weekend in Detroit, and if it lives up to the hype, we’ll be talking about a rematch with a Lombardi Trophy on the line for the next two months.
Bonus for Bears fans: Joe Brady is a name you’re going to hear during the search for the next head coach. He’s the OC in Buffalo, and you can watch that offense operate against an NFC North foe for 60 minutes in this game. As a two-for, Chicago fans can also watch Ben Johnson’s offense in action in this one.
Philadelphia Eagles (11-2) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) — 3:25 PM CT – FOX (Local)
The Eagles will host their intrastate rivals on Sunday in the local FOX window, so again, in the Chicagoland area, you can watch this without a Sunday Ticket subscription. The Steelers can clinch a playoff berth with a win or tie or a Miami loss or tie coupled with an Indianapolis loss or tie. So, if the above scenario plays out with the Texans beating Miami and Indianapolis losing to Denver, we would have a two-for-one scenario where Houston locks up the AFC South and Pittsburgh clinches a playoff berth.
Conversely, the Eagles can clinch the NFC East division title this weekend with a victory over the Steelers??and??a Washington Commanders loss or tie. Philly could also clinch with a tie against the Steelers and a Commanders loss. Washington is in New Orleans this weekend to take on a Derek Carr-less Saints team. Even if the Eagles take care of business against the Steelers, it is doubtful Washington will lose to New Orleans, likely pushing any NFC East celebration for the Eagles into Week 16.
Seattle Seahawks (8-5) vs. Green Bay Packers (9-4) — 7:20 PM CT – NBC
For a nightcap, we can watch the Seattle Seahawks hopefully whip the Green Bay Packers in primetime. It might be the most joy Bears fans will have all weekend when it comes to football watching. Green Bay can clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Seahawks, an Atlanta Falcons loss or tie, and a San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams tie. While possible, it is doubtful that Green Bay punches its ticket to the postseason this weekend, needing a rare tie from the 49ers and Rams. Regardless, go, Seahawks!
