Lions are the New Favorite
The Detroit Lions are the favorite to win the Super Bowl. A sentence not many football fans thought was even possible to say. Detroit has been dominant as they sit at 9-1 and the NFC’s top seed. Jared Goff has a QB rating of 112.1 and has thrown 20 touchdowns for one of the top offenses in the league. The Lions are 1st in points and 3rd in total yards. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery have been a tremendous backfield as they have combined for almost 1,400 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns.
The schedule is tough down the stretch as the Lions still have to face the Packers, Bills, 49ers, and Vikings. There will be plenty of chances to see how well Detroit stacks up compared to other contenders. So far, they have been answering every call.
Chiefs, Bills Close Behind
Josh Allen and the Bills did what no team could so far this season as they took down the Chiefs 31-20 to improve to 9-2 on the year and just a game back of the top seed in the AFC. The win is crucial because they now own the tiebreaker over Kansas City if they finish with the same record. Josh Allen has been playing like an MVP (18 TD passes, 5 rush TDs) while James Cook has had no trouble finding the end zone (10 rush TDs, 1 rec TD).
The Chiefs are still dangerous and we will never count the champs out. They are still second in odds to win it all as they could meet Buffalo again in the playoffs at home if they just keep winning. Patrick Mahomes (15 TD, 11 INT) has been better as of late as he has thrown 9 touchdown passes to just 3 INT in his last 4 games. The defense is 8th in points and 5th in total yards and will be a crucial part of another potential championship run.
Ravens Drop in Odds
While Lamar Jackson has been insanely good (25 TDs, 3 INT), the Ravens have now dropped 4 games and are 2 games back of the Steelers for the AFC North lead. The defense has been the issue in Baltimore as it ranks 23rd in points against and 26th in total yards. While the offense is stellar (2nd in points, 1st in yards), the Ravens will have to get it together if they want to have a home playoff game. As of now, they are in a Wild Card slot and would be on the road in their first playoff game.
