iGaming Bill Clears First Hurdle
Indiana’s recently introduced iGaming House Bill has passed its first committee vote. Introduced by Rep. Ethan Manning, HB 1432 passed on a 9-2 tally vote in the House Committee on Public Policy. This is just like in 2023 when a similar bill was also passed through this committee by vote. The bill now moves on to the House Ways and Means Committee. This committee deals with fiscal matters.
Bill Gains Three Co-Sponsors
Rep. Manning is getting some help from his peers as three more reps have jumped on as co-sponsors of the bill. Reps. Cory Criswell, Steve Bartels, and Justin Moed have agreed to sign on to the legislation. Manning is still the primary sponsor for HB 1432.
What’s Next for Indiana iGaming?
Like we said, the bill now moves to the House Ways and Means Committee as a next step. The proposal would allow the Indiana Gaming Commission to immediately accept iGaming license applications the moment it passed. It would set a date for iGaming to go live on September 1, 2025. Also, the legislation calls for the establishment of new programs for responsible gaming and gambling addiction.
