We are that much closer to opening night of the Chicago Blackhawks 2021 season! And today, the team waived four players ahead of the final roster deadline on Tuesday.
The Blackhawks have placed Anton Lindholm, John Quenneville, Nick Seeler and Matt Tomkins on waivers.

All four will need to clear waivers before being assigned to the Rockford IceHogs or to the Blackhawks’ taxi squad.
Speaking of which, the AHL season begins on February 5, and with Tuesday being the final roster deadline and the travel day for the Blackhawks heading to Tampa, most of the players will liekly head to Rockford to begin IceHogs training camp there.
Of note, Brandon Pirri was not waived by the Blackhawks today, meaning he'll be on the active NHL roster.

The Brandon Pirri trade for Dylan Sikura this offseason, was a head-scratching move. Chicago was bringing back a player the organization essentially punted on six years ago, in exchange for Sikura, whom the organization was also punting on. I truly did not think Pirri was going to factor into the NHL roster, but it appears that he has indeed earned his spot with the Blackhawks – at least, for the time being
Sikura, by the way, was waived by the Vegas Golden Knights.
#Blackhawks' waiver-exempt player list:
Boqvist, Beaudin
Dach, Nylander (IR)Altybarmakyan, Barratt, Chalupa, Entwistle, Hagel, Hakkarainen, Kurashev, Johnson, Brad and Cam Morrison, Soderlund, Suter, Teply
Carlsson, Kalynuk, Krys, Lankinen, Mitchell, Regula

In the next 24 hours, the Blackhawks will have their final NHL roster put together. Assuming all four of the players placed on waiver today clear, you can bet that a large chunk of these players listed above will join them in being eligible for the Rockford IceHogs or taxi squad, just not having to go through the waivers process.
If I’m reading into anything, the players in the first group at practice on Monday are likely those not going to be playing in the NHL to start the season.
#Blackhawks first group today is loaded with prospects:

We are TWO days away from the beginning of the season. I am excited.
