It’s been a while since the Chicago Blackhawks had themselves a hockey game that could be accompanied by mimosa’s, bloody mary’s, and half-pound cheeseburgers that are OK to eat at 10 a.m. because there’s a fried egg on it.
That’s right, it’s Sunday Brunch Hockey.
After getting their first win of the season on Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings, the Blackhawks hope to make it two in-a-row over their long-time rivals and keep the train moving forward later this morning.

What To Watch For
• Kevin Lankinen makes his third-straight start for the Blackhawks. He’s 1-0-1 in his previous two starts with a 0.902 save-percentage and a 2.94 GAA. He made 30 saves on Friday in the Blackhawks’ 4-1 win over the Red Wings, his first career NHL win. Lankinen may just take the reigns of the starting goaltender position if he is able to get another quality start under his belt, and another win.
• Carl Söderberg makes his Blackhawks debut today. Lucas Wallmark will be scratched. Söderberg’s first action with the Blackhawks will be his first action of the season, having missed all of training camp due to immigration issues at the start of the month. The 35-year-old is a versatile forward who can settle into a middle-six role and provide a steady veteran presence in a lineup that has been inundated with less-than experienced players.
• The Red Wings have been hit hard with players landing on the COVID absence list in the past week. Detroit has lost Filip Zadina, Adam Erne, Robby Fabbri, Sam Gagner, and Jon Merrill all before Friday night’s loss to Chicago, where they had to dress seven defensemen. Now they will be without Darren Helm, down yet another forward for today’s game, head coach Jeff Blashill has an unenviable task of putting some sort of lineup together.
Get Caught Up …
Jeremy Colliton on Carl Soderberg: "We think he can help us in a lot of different areas, and a little bit more of a veteran presence down the middle will help protect our younger guys." #Blackhawks (2/2)

Colliton on Wallmark healthy scratch today: “We have to do what’s right with the lineup. He’ll get in again, he’ll get another chance. Hopefully he continues improving his game, being a little bit more active skating away from the puck. He’ll get his chance.”

Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said forward Darren Helm is questionable for Sunday vs. #Blackhawks. Blashill added he doesn't know if they'll play 11 forwards and seven defensemen again or go with 12 forwards and six defensemen. #LGRW

Brandon Hagel: "Everyone’s doing a really good job in the dressing room of sticking together no matter what the circumstances are. Everyone, from the older guys to the younger guys, are really close as a group."
