On Thursday morning, the Chicago Blackhawks announced the signing of defenseman Madison Bowey to a two-year contract through the 2021-22 season.

The two-year deal averages out to a $725,000 AAV cap hit.

Year one will be a two-way deal for the 2021 season with a $700,000 NHL salary cap hit. And year two, a one-way deal for the 2021-22 season with a $750,000 NHL cap hit. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have placed Bowey on waivers as part of the transaction, which signals that they intend to either place him on the Taxi Squad, or assign him to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL.
