The NHL is heading outdoors. Again.
In what has become a yearly tradition of outdoor games, the NHL is heading to Lake Tahoe this weekend for two games to be held right next to the lake between the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, and the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins on Sunday.
The games will be held on a constructed rink at Edgewood Tahoe Resort on the California-Nevada border, just steps away from the lake.
The scenes are incredible!
I scammed my way to the top of the main TV tower. (Hey, I'm working on a story!) This is will be the perspective of the main game camera. #NHLOutdoors pic.twitter.com/AlJiRK7072

That is what you will see on the broadcasts on NBC in the U.S. and on Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada. That’s a REAL background.
How about the views for the players? Oh nothing, just absolute beauty.

Even if you don’t care about any of the four teams playing this weekend, tuning in to see a professional game being played in such a picturesque environment is worth the price of admission alone. Well, not really since there will be no fans in attendance at either game.
Maybe another reason to watch, for those who are not fans of the teams involved, is to see the Colorado Avalanche’s Reverse Retro uniforms finally in action. Widely considered one of the best versions of the Reverse Retro collection by Adidas Hockey, the Avalanche will don their Quebec Nordique-inspired setups on Saturday and I cannot wait to see them in action.
Okay these are pretty cool!! The @Avalanche reverse retro jerseys!! pic.twitter.com/XkWiCsFoSJ

I’d like to petition that one outdoor game per year be played at this Lake Tahoe location because it is one of the most beautiful locations the NHL has ever gone to play a game. Both puck drops on Saturday and Sunday are at 2 p.m. CT.
