On a night when the Chicago Blackhawks desperately needed a convincing win, they got … something less than that.
After the Blue Jackets beat the Lightning, and the Predators came back against the Red Wings, the Blackhawks HAD TO come away with a two-point result against the Dallas Stars tonight. Thankfully, that’s just what did in the form of a 4-2 win to keep pace behind Nashville and ahead of Columbus.

The line of Alex DeBrincat, Kirby Dach (who opened the scoring with his first goal of the season), and Patrick Kane was buzzing through the first 40 minutes of the game, combining for a point each for the three of them on the night. Patrick Kane assisted on the 1-0 goal from Dach, his 37th assist of the season and 50th point. He would add the empty-netter at the end of the game for his 15th multi-point game of the season. Alex DeBrincat got on the scoresheet with his 20th goal of the season on the 3-0 marker in the second period, his third professional season reaching the 20+goal mark in his career. And, again, Dach got his first goal of the season tonight.
Kevin Lankinen, meanwhile, was solid in his 28th start of the year, stopping 25 of 27 shots faced, while moving his record to 14-10-4 on the season. He is 3-0-0 against the Stars this season with just five goals allowed in those three starts. The Blackhawks are 4-1-0 against Dallas on the year.
